AAMS Wins Grand Prize in National Competition

As part of a contest with a $5000 grant award to purchase books, students and staff at Abigail Adams Middle School collaborated in December 2021 to produce this inspiring video filled with phenomenal voices. This was an incredible production that was thrown together in a single day. Students in the video give testimonials about how books have made their dreams come true, choir members rehearsed with Ms. McDonough and recorded the song in one day, and students in Mr. Delvecchio’s PBL class designed replica book covers of some of their favorite books and novels and adorned the auditorium with them.

We are thrilled to announce that their efforts were not only noticed, but deserve some serious recognition, as AAMS was awarded the $5,000 grand prize in the Alane Adams “a million dreams” challenge to purchase books for classrooms and the AAMS library!  We are so grateful to everyone who was involved in showcasing the amazing talent at AAMS, including Kate McCue-Day and Colleen McDonough, Mr. Delvecchio, Mr. Cawley, and Mr. Mullaney, and our amazing students; this video rose above 21 other school submissions across the nation.

Great work, AAMS: thanks for reminding the entire district that dreams do come true!
