WPS Partners with Champions to Offer Before and After School Care

WEYMOUTH SCHOOLS PARTNERS WITH CHAMPIONS TO OFFER BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE

(Weymouth, MA - June 16, 2021)  Weymouth Public Schools is pleased to announce it has awarded Champions the contract for before and after school programming for primary students for the 2021-2022 school year.

“We are thrilled to offer affordable before and after school care for our families that will provide quality programs, support services, and enrichment opportunities for our students in a safe learning environment this school year,” Superintendent Robert Wargo said.  “I would like to thank the School Committee, Mayor Robert Hedlund, and the Town Council for their ongoing support of this important initiative, as well as the RFP review team who were instrumental in adhering to all procurement and contract regulations required by M.G.L. 30B and Town Ordinances.”

The district submitted a Request for Proposals (RFP) for before and after school care last month after an internal analysis determined there would be a staffing shortage this school year.  In an effort to keep rates affordable, and meet all DESE and EEC guidelines, the district made the decision to seek proposals from outside vendors, which were reviewed by the RFP review team.

The proposal submitted by Champions included tuition amounts that were proportionate to the 2020-2021 proposed Wey Care rates.  Before school care for five days remains $57/week, and after school care for five days will increase minimally from $72.5/week to $77/week.  The cost for before and after school care combined for five days will decrease from $130/week to $114/week.  A full list of part-time and full-time before and after school care, as well fee information, discounts and scholarships will be provided by Champions.

Before and after school care scheduling will remain the same as in prior years, and will be available during the before school hours of 7:00AM - 9:05AM, and the after school hours of 3:15PM to 6:00PM.

Once the contract has been fully executed, and all EEC requirements have been fulfilled, enrollment information will be available through Champions. The district will keep families apprised of any new information as it becomes available.
