Update from Superintendent - Celebrating Women's Day

March 8, 2021
Dear Weymouth School Community,

Today is International Women’s Day, a part of Women’s History Month. In honor of this day I would like to recognize the strength, dedication, and tenacity of each and every woman in our school community.

At Weymouth Public Schools we strive to provide equitable access to education, inclusive of girls, and equity amongst our staff.  We are extremely proud of the women leaders throughout our schools and administration who play an essential role in our community.

Each of our students are surrounded by women; whether at home or at school, who provide support as caregivers, educators, and leaders.  Today, this month, and everyday let’s celebrate the power and resilience of all women, and remind our female students that their possibilities are limitless.

In the words of Vice President Kamala Harris, “My mother had a saying, Kamala, you may be the first to do many things, but make sure you’re not the last.” We have a commitment to the young girls in our community to not only show them the way, but to instill in them the notion that their dreams, no matter how big, are possible. May we remind them they can be the first of anything, and we’ll help them pave the way for any person who follows.

Thank you,
Kathleen Smith, JD
