Term 2

2023-2024

 

For grades 3-5 this term, there was an emphasis on learning to deal with losses and embrace growth through practice and perseverance. Through various team games, the students learned the significance of teamwork, giving one's best effort and effective communication which are crucial skills for success in both sports and life. 

Class also focused on critical thinking and problem-solving through activities such as scavenger hunts, which required communication among team members. Warm-up routines, including dynamic and static exercises, helped prepare students physically for the activities. 

Lastly, games like Kickball provided opportunities for teamwork, while reinforcing the importance of adapting to different roles within a team. The goal is to equip students with the skills to maintain a healthy life, where they can confidently engage in physical activities and channel their energy positively.

Grades 1 and 2

In grades 1 and 2, an emphasis for the term was on developing motor skills, while providing a positive atmosphere among students. While competition is a part of many games, the importance of sportsmanship and respect were also covered, encouraging children to accept both victory and defeat as a part of the game. Many students this term at the conclusion of games would shake hands or high five and tell eachother “good game”.

Various types of relay races fostered teamwork and perseverance, while games like Duck Duck Goose encouraged social interaction. Scavenger hunts enhance students' communication and problem-solving skills. Specific skills such as dribbling, catching, and throwing were also explored, encouraging children to practice these in class and at home. Kindergarten
