WPS Pathways

"History will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday lives of children"

Weymouth Public Schools is committed to offering the students of our community multiple pathways to educational and social-emotional success.  To meet the unique and diverse needs of all students, WPS uses the Massachusetts MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) Framework.  This framework is a proactive approach in identifying and addressing the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.  As part of our commitment to this framework, we created Pathways which provides a variety of skill-building opportunities for our secondary students in the least restrictive settings.

Our Pathways staff are divided into various settings to give individualized intervention to meet the needs of all students.  These interventions include:

The supports of these individual Pathways groups have been designed to allow students to develop, build upon, and use tools and strategies from individualized small group settings, across their personal and academic day.  Some areas that are covered but not limited to are:

  • Social-emotional skills
  • Executive Functioning
  • Organization
  • Digital literacy for remote learning
  • Self-Regulation
  • Social Awareness

We look at these areas as the building blocks to making positive connections in the school community and key components of successful students at Weymouth Public Schools.

Students are identified for Pathways support through the Student Intervention Team.  This team of educators, led by building administration, works collaboratively to find solutions for students struggling in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional areas.  The working flow chart can be found here.

If you have questions about the student intervention team or Pathways please reach out to the administration at Weymouth High School.
