Fundraising Procedures
Fundraising is an important way to support programs and activities across the district. To ensure transparency, alignment with district policies, and proper financial procedures, all fundraising activities affiliated with WPS must follow the guidelines outlined below.
All fundraising must comply with:
- Weymouth School Committee Policies:
-
Town of Weymouth Ordinances and Massachusetts General Law Chapter 30B
If a fundraiser involves the purchase of items to be sold, a financial plan must be finalized with the WPS Business Office before approval can be granted.
Raffles and Games of Chance
Please note that raffles and other games of chance are strictly regulated under Massachusetts law. Weymouth Public Schools may not sponsor or promote these events, and, as a result, WPS staff and students may not participate in organizing or selling raffle tickets. These events are also not permitted on school grounds. Parent organizations (Parent Councils, Boosters) may conduct raffles if they choose, but they are solely responsible for adhering to all state laws and regulations.
School-Community Businesses, Parent Groups, and Organizations:
A fundraising request form must be submitted to the Superintendent's Office for approval before any fundraiser is initiated.
