Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year!
We’re excited to welcome both new and returning students to Weymouth Public Schools. This Back-to-School Guide is designed to help Weymouth families and students kick off the year with confidence. Below, you’ll find everything you need to start the school year smoothly—from important dates and transportation details to health requirements and school schedules. Summer Office Hours
WPS elementary and middle school offices will reopen on Monday, August 25. The Weymouth High School offices are open throughout the summer from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for transcript requests and work permits.

Aspen Student Information System

WPS uses the Aspen student information system for all our schools. Aspen is an online platform where families can find important information about their child's education, such as attendance, report cards, grades, and class schedules.

If you need help with your Aspen account, like resetting your password or accessing your student's information, please contact your child's school office. If they can't solve the issue, our district's EdTech department is available to provide further assistance.

Before & After School Programs

Weymouth Public Schools partners with Champions to offer before and after school care at all of our Pre-K and elementary (K–5) buildings. Champions provides engaging, safe programming and works to staff each site to meet demand; however, spots often fill quickly and waitlists are common—early registration is strongly encouraged.

New this year: Champions will also offer programming at Chapman Middle School.

Another local option is South Shore Stars, which operates offsite but may be able to provide transportation depending on your student’s school building.

Bus Schedules & Transportation Information

Per Weymouth School Committee policy EE, WPS provides (free of charge) bus service for students under the following conditions:

The student is attending a school within his/her assigned school zone;
The student is in Kindergarten through grade six; and
The student´s place of residence is over two miles from the school.

The WPS Pay Rider program offers an option for students in grades 7-12 to utilize bus transportation by paying a fee. The service is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is also an option for students in grades K-6 who do not qualify for district-provided transportation, with priority given to those living farther away from their school.

2025-2026 Pay Rider Bus Fees: $265 for the 1st child, $265 for the 2nd child, and $105 for the third child. There is a maximum fee of $630 for families who need transportation for 3 or more students.

Some students enrolled in specific special education programs are eligible for transportation, as outlined in their Individual Education Plan (IEP). For information regarding transportation for special education students, please contact your school office.

2025-2026 Bus Routes will be published on August 22, 2025.

2025-2026 Bus Stop assignments will be published in Aspen on August 22, 2025, at 3 p.m. If your student has been assigned to a bus route/bus stop, that information will be listed in the Aspen parent portal.

Mass Communication System: To ensure that all Weymouth families are informed about critical news, school closures, and other updates, we use the Finalsite mass notification system. This system sends you timely notifications via text message, email, and/or phone. The system pulls your contact information directly from Aspen, our student information system. Please check that your contact details are up to date in Aspen to ensure you receive these messages.

Event Calendars: You're already on our website, so you know we're working to keep the district and school websites updated with all the info you need! If you haven't already checked out our online calendars (e.g. district calendar, WHS Athletics), please do, and know that you can subscribe to any of our calendars to automatically sync with your own family calendar. Never miss an early release day or soccer game!

WPS App: Stay connected on the go with the WPS app! It’s a streamlined version of our website that puts key tools right at your fingertips—including absence reporting, staff directories, event calendars, and more. Visit your app store and download the app today to make following our district and school news & information quick and easy!

Social Media: We actively update WeymouthSchools.org and maintain a district-level presence on Facebook and Instagram. Please follow us to stay up to date! Not on social media? Not a problem--we publish the same content on our website AND stream our Facebook feed to the district homepage (see the "Social" tab next to the newsfeed) so you don't have to miss any updates.

Weekly Newsletters: Each of our school offices sends a weekly newsletter on the weekends to parents and guardians with school news and important dates. If you are a parent or guardian and are not receiving your school’s weekly newsletter, please contact your school office.

Open House Dates

Each of our schools holds an Open House event in September so that parents and guardians can visit their student’s classrooms, meet their teachers, and learn more about the school community. In 2025, the schedule of Open House Dates is as follows:

Orientations

To ensure smooth transitions for students new to our buildings, we offer various orientation events tailored to each grade level. In addition to in-person events, we also have a series of virtual school tours on our website.

To welcome our youngest learners, Pre-K and Kindergarten students and families are typically invited to screenings and/or building-based welcome events coordinated by each school community in early September. We also host a district-wide "Welcome to Kindergarten" event every May for incoming Kindergarteners so they can meet Kindergarten teachers and other WPS staff. Below please find information on some of the welcome events that have been scheduled. Please contact your school office for more information.

Talbot

Talbot Kindergarten Meet and Greet: Tuesday, September 2. 🕔 5-5:30 p.m.📍Talbot Playground.

Kindergarten Orientation: Friday, September 5. Families will receive an email on August 18 notifying them of their orientation time.

Wessagusset

Back-to-School Ice Cream Social: Tuesday, September 2 🕔 5:30 p.m. for Kindergarten only; 🕔 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for everyone. 📍Wessagusset School Playground.
Kindergarten Orientation will take place on Friday, September 5. Mrs. Harmon will email families with a specific time slot for orientation, which will last approximately 45 minutes.

Incoming 6th graders to Chapman Middle School are invited to visit the school with their 5th-grade classes in June. 8th graders and their families are invited to a special “Walk With a Wildcat” evening event at Weymouth High School in the fall before they officially begin as 9th graders to understand the offerings and course selection options at WHS. Additionally, in September 2025, we have coordinated the first day of school for 6th and 9th graders such that they will be the only students in their new buildings on September 4, 2025, before the remaining grades return to the buildings on Friday, September 5. This will allow students who are new to the building time to orient themselves.

Please note that, to be eligible for enrollment in Weymouth Public Schools, the parent or legal guardian of a student must provide proof of legal residency within the Town of Weymouth. Children whose primary residence is located outside of Weymouth are not eligible to attend Weymouth Public Schools.

School Closings & Delays

School Supply Lists

School supply lists vary across our schools. We will link to any published lists below as they become available throughout the summer, but please note that these are suggestions—not requirements. These lists include suggested items that will help our students feel prepared and organized in the classroom. Please know that these supplies are completely optional. If you are unable to provide any of the listed items, the school will ensure that your child has everything they need to be successful. No student will go without the necessary materials.

Elementary Schools:

At Chapman Middle School, supply lists will be communicated by the student's team toward the end of the summer.

At Weymouth High School, we recommend families either wait to shop or purchase only basic supplies (like notebooks, pens, and folders) until after the first day of school. Teachers will share course-specific supply needs during the first few days of class.

Student Schedules & Homeroom Assignments

Elementary Schools: Teacher assignments for elementary students will be available in Aspen on August 22, 2025, at 3 p.m. Visit our Family & Student Logins page for resources to help you locate this information in Aspen. Please contact your building principal with any questions or concerns about assignments (school offices will reopen on Monday, August 25.)

Chapman Middle School: Students’ team assignments and class schedules will be available in Aspen on August 22, 2025, at 3 p.m. Families may contact guidance counselors/grade level deans for scheduling assistance.

Weymouth High School: Student schedules will be available in Aspen on August 22, 2025, at 3 p.m. Students are encouraged to review their schedules and reach out to their guidance counselors for any necessary changes.
