FY27 Budget Development
Weymouth Public Schools is committed to a transparent, collaborative, and student-centered budget development process. In the midst of a challenging budget climate, we remain focused on providing a well-rounded education for every student, including a strong core curriculum, the arts, wellness, and enrichment opportunities, while simultaneously addressing critical compliance needs.
The Development Process/Timeline
The Budget Subcommittee and the WPS Business Office work year-round to ensure funds and resources are allocated appropriately to support our students and their education. The annual budget development process is also a year-round process with the bulk of the work happening during the months of January, February, and March. The entire process includes:
-
Fall 2025: Enrollment reviews, needs & staffing assessments, and departmental budget planning.
-
Winter 2025–2026: Internal budget presentations and prioritization; leadership team collaboration.
-
January–March 2026: Public presentations to the School Committee and public forums for community feedback.
-
April 2026: Submission of recommended budget to the Town.
-
Spring 2026: Review and final approval by the Town Council as part of the overall municipal budget.
We encourage all members of the community to actively participate in the budget process by attending meetings, providing feedback, and staying informed.
