II. Discussion: School Committee Meeting Time & Location 4:00 - 4:15 pm

Discussion on establishing the regular meeting schedule, day/time, and location(s) for School Committee meetings for the upcoming school year:
- Consideration of alternate meeting nights, start times, or rotating locations
- Accessibility and public participation considerations
- Posting requirements under the Open Meeting Law for any schedule change
III. MASC PRESENTATION: ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEMBERS 4:15 - 5:45 pm
- Sean Costello, Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC)
Mr. Costello from MASC will present on the roles, responsibilities, and governance duties of School Committee members. Topics will include:
- Meeting minutes: legal requirements, approval process, and record-keeping
- The Open Meeting Law: deliberation, quorum, executive session, and public records requirements
- Roles and responsibilities of individual members vs. the Committee as a body
- The Committee’s role in policy-setting, superintendent evaluation, and budget oversight
- Distinction between governance and day-to-day school administration
- Ethics requirements and conflict of interest law as applied to School Committee members
IV. ADJOURNMENT 5:45 p.m.
This meeting will be recorded at the Committee’s request to maintain a record of the workshop. The meeting will be conducted in person and will not be livestreamed nor available for remote participation. Members of the public may attend but will not be permitted to participate.
