Thursday, September 24, 2025
Location: Adams Small Conference Room
89 Middle St.
Members in Attendance: Dana Scott, Kathy Curran, Mary-Ellen Devine
Also Present: Lindsey Fratolillo, Assistant Superintendent
4:00 P.M. - Policy Chair Dana Scott called meeting to order.
Assistant Superintendent Lindsey Fratolillo presented the existing policy for JF-SCHOOL ADMISSIONS and the proposed language change at the end of the policy to include a re-establishment of proof of residency prior to grades 6 and 9.
School Committee Member Curran inquired why the language addition would be necessary to which Assistant Superintendent Fratolillo explained it would help the district adhere to residency requirements and fill the gaps of extended periods of time by re-establishing student residency prior to entering middle school and again in high school. It also ensures that resources available to students are actually going to students that are in fact residents of Weymouth.
-Committee member Dana Scott suggested hyper linking the document requirements to the JF: Admissions cross reference section.
-Every year in January, re-registration would open to 5th graders and 8th graders.
-The roll out for updated policy will start beginning with just the 5th grade the first year before adding 9th graders to the procedure in the following year.
-The committee members agreed that a deadline of documents to be provided to WPS should be included in the new language (documentation due by end of school year for students who will be entering 6th and 9th grades)
-Questions asked by committee members to the Assistant Superintendent to answer at a later time after some research were if administrative assistants were ready for the workload of the new process, as well as some history as it pertains to renters proof of residency and if there have been reports of families having difficulty obtaining necessary information on the Landlord Living Agreement forms.
