Pursuant to Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2025, this meeting will be conducted in person and, as a courtesy, via remote means in accordance with applicable law, extending the provisions originally outlined in Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2023. Remote means will include the WETC8 live feed (https://weymouth.tv/video-on-demand/) and the Zoom link below. Please note that while an option for remote attendance is being provided as a courtesy, the meeting/hearing will not be suspended or terminated if technological problems interrupt the virtual broadcast unless required by law.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm
The Chair informed that the meeting is being recorded and available on WETC.
Mrs. Nardone led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
A Moment of Silence was observed in honor of the victims, survivors and their families of the September 11th attacks.
Additional Moments of Silence were also observed for the passing of Weymouth Educators, Lois O’Brien and Eleanor Murray.

Motion by Dr. Sherlock-Shangraw to accept the consent agenda. Seconded by Mrs. Devine. Motion unanimously passed.
REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT:
The Superintendent welcomed everyone back to school; staff enjoyed 2 professional days and students had a phased entry. Thanks and appreciation were extended to maintenance/custodial staff, transportation, food service, educators, leadership team, Town Wide Parent Council, Parent Councils, School Committee members, Mayor Molisse, Chief of Staff Langill, as well as Police and Fire Departments.
The registration center is busy and accepted 150 registrations in August and September thus far. Of the 150 registrants, 55 were for kindergarten. Conversation of an earlier start to the school year for Prek-K will be had due to the increasing trend.
Cristine O’Connor has been hired as the development coordinator and will take on the duties of Betsy Harris. The athletic sponsor banner program is off and running.
The Superintendent will be sending a newsletter in the next week or two identifying objectives, safety protocols and communication.
Happy Birthday wishes were expressed to the Chair.
The Scholastic library 2 block is being worked on to ensure accessibility to all students.
It was shared that Mayor Molisse sent his regrets for his absence due to a family emergency.
SCHOOL COMMITTEE SUB-COMMITTEE REPORT
Members attend other meetings outside of school committee days. Updates of other committees:

The next meeting will be 9/17/25 with the agenda posted on 9/15/25.
b. Collective Bargaining Sub-Committee - Rebecca Sherlock-Shangraw
Negotiations will kick off this fall.

The next meeting will be 9/16/25-Introductions of the board and an overview of SEPAC and presentations throughout the upcoming year.
NEW BUSINESS
a. WHS CTE Admission Criteria-First Reading-Assistant Superintendent Fratolillo & CTE Director Depina
CTE Director Depina and Principal Monahan presented the application policy proposal (attached to these minutes). Changes to the admission policy are to comply with DESE mandates. There are 190 shop seats available for CTE students. Proposal is for a weighted lottery enabling for objective criteria; additional ‘tickets’ for attendance and discipline. A randomizer will select students. It was shared that funding and space would be of better support than the change in admission policy.
All questions by the committee were addressed and they thanked Mr. Depina and Principal Monahan for the informative and comprehensive presentation.
The CTE admissions Policy & application is moved to a 2nd reading. Students and families are encouraged to read through and email questions to the board or attend the next meeting.
b. 2025-2026 Subcommittee Meeting Schedule-Chair Nardone
To be mindful of members' time and with 6 contract negotiations coming up, The Chair is proposing that Policy and the Athletic sub committee meet on alternate Thursdays that the school committee does not. The Chair is open to feedback.

Expressed her support for the weighted lottery.
-Kelly McLean, 60 Jaffrey St.
Expressed her thanks to Assistant Superintendent Fratolillo, Kristie Edelman, and Angela White for collaborating to enhance the X2 family portal for sub separate families. She also thanked parent councils for the back to school events and SEPAC for the summer meet ups.
-Allegra Maroney, 44 Carrol St.
Extended her thanks to the Superintendent and leadership for the great start back to school. Appreciation was also expressed to Assistant Superintendent Smith for arranging tours of the modular classrooms.
-Ben Crosby, 44 Norma Ave,
Introduced himself as the TWPC President and thanked the Superintendent and admin team for attending the meeting on Tuesday. He expressed thanks to the Superintendent for the upcoming newsletter that’ll include safety messaging. He expressed concern for the Scholastic library block 2 funding. Mr. Smith shared that budgeting in FY27 will be accounted for.
