The Computer Technology program is designed to prepare students to work as computer service professionals. Students will gain the knowledge and troubleshooting skills needed to provide capable support in the field of personal computers. Upon completion of this course, Participants will have the necessary experience necessary to pass the A+ Certification Exam.
Students will learn computer and peripheral terminology, computer safety, computer assembly, configuration, installation, basic troubleshooting, and basic networking. Common operating systems used will be Windows 98®, Windows me®, Windows NT®, Windows 2000®, and Windows XP®.
Areas of study include PC Hardware, system boards, standard I/O systems, mass storage systems, data communications, printers, portable systems, operating system fundamentals, basic system troubleshooting, operating system troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and networking.
WHAT IS A PLUS CERTIFICATION
A plus Certification is an industry recognized credential that certifies the competency of PC Service Specialists. It is sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). The program is backed by major computer hardware and software manufacturers, vendors, distributors, resellers, and publications. A+ Certification provides a wealth of benefits to any person seeking a job in the computer industry.
Students will prepare for the A+ Certification test by using interactive computer generated testing material which will simulate the A+ Certification test. Students will be able to complete practice tests, determine their weak points, and study more strategically.
