The aesthetics program is the newest addition to the cosmetology department. The aesthetics program is a 300 hour course, open to juniors and seniors, sixteen years old and up. It involves hands on practical work along with related text book work. The asthetics students also practice strict sanitation while working on the public and their fellow students. Proper use and care of machinery is included in their training along with shop safety and business management. Makeup application both day, evening, and corrective use is part of their training. Students also keep a daily journal, complete a C.B.V.E. notebook with their personal and resume as part of the course requirements. The students also have a State Board Exam book to study for their practical and written exam given by the State Board of Cosmetology. After completing 300 hours of theory and practical work they are able to go out and work at their profession. After two years of working, they can apply for their aesthetics license allowing them to manage a shop. No further examination is required, only proof of employment working in the aesthetic's field.
