The program, which began in the fall of 2004, will have students participating in visits to the nursing home to shadow employees, discover the educational requirements necessary for employment and learn about the careers of the future in health care. The program, under the direction of Ms. Deanna Murphy R.N., is popular with high school students who would like to train for employment in the health care field. The donation of time and personnel from the facility makes this real life program easily accessible to Weymouth High School students. The partnership, which is expected to increase yearly, will provide local employment for students wishing to enter the field after high school as well as employment for students returning from higher education. Further questions about this program can be directed to Francis Howley, Director of Career and Technical Education Weymouth Public Schools, at 781-337-7500 ext. 25203.
