We
invite you to register and walk with us our

educational programs, advocacy, training and programs for survivors of suicide
loss to residents in communities around Eastern
Massachusetts.It's
never to early to start. Summer is a great time to focus on fundraising
while spending time relaxing with friends and family. We hope that these
reminders offer you ideas on ways to reach your goal, recruit team members, and
how to get the word out. Please
forward this email to all of your friends, family members, co-workers
and neighbors - invite them to register and walk with you!***********************************************************************************

What Can
YOU Do?
*Send Fundraising Emails to Friends and
Family: The key to getting donations is simply asking! Plan an email or
letter writing campaign to share your story and let them know why it's so
important to support AFSP. It's easy to send emails directly from your
DonorDrive account.
*
Print out a walk flyer and post it around
work, school and your town businesses. Help us get the word out!
* Have a walk change jar at home and at work. Ask
everyone in your family keep a walk change jar at home and donate whatever is
collected to yourself. Have one in your office lunch room or at your desk and
ask everyone to give their change to your cause!
* Ask local businesses to sponsor you! Reach
out to companies in the community for support. Ask them if they can have a tip
jar or donation jar at the checkout counter with a poster for the Walk. Diners,
Hairdressers, Nail Salons, Stores and Health Clubs are great places to make the
ask especially if you are a customer or regular patron.

Team
Fun-raising Events
Get creative, do something
fun and get your community involved.
Hold a third-party event!
This can be an event that you and your team
plan together to raise funds for your team goal. It can be a golf event, a
dinner or dance event, bake sale, car wash, girls night out, yard sale or a
tupperware party!
Think outside the box!
Look into all of the possibilities in your
community, at work and at school where you can let everyone know how to support
you. You will be surprised at how many different ways you can get the word out!
Students have hosted a Talent Show at school and have raised a lot of
money from parent, student and teacher
donations.

We
understand that for some people, asking friends, family and co-workers to donate
to the Walk does not come easy. Share your story when sending emails or
letters. Most people want to help but are just waiting for you to make the
ASK. Let people know why it's so important that they support you. Let
them know that no donation is too small. Any amount they
donate will make a direct impact on our mission and work to help communities all
over Eastern Massachusetts. Please remember to thank all your donors for
their support via a personal note or email.

The shoes will be on display during the event and then donated after the

Help Build
Our 2012 Memory Wall for the Boston Walk
We
need a volunteer or two who can build a Memory Wall for the 2012 Walk. We'd like
to have a Wall similar to last year's and plan to display both at this year's
Walk.
If you are handy and can share your time and talents with
us, this Wall would be a great gift to the Boston Chapter.
Email Melanie Varady for more
information. |
