The Culinary Arts Program at Weymouth High School is designed to prepare students to work in a variety of positions in the culinary arts and hospitality industry or to go on to post-secondary education within the field. Students will be trained in the techniques of restaurant operations and other commercial food service establishments. Students will also be instructed in recipe and menu planning, preparing and cooking foods, supervising and training in kitchen assistance, and management of supplies and kitchen resources. Students will participate in all aspects of the kitchen including the dining room, proper service techniques, pastry preparation, and bakery sales, restaurant food preparation, safety, and sanitation.

Upon completion of the Culinary Arts Program at Weymouth High School, students will not only become leaders within the industry, but they will also be the innovators, creators, and trendsetters of the future.

  • Develop professional commercial kitchen and bakery skills.
  • Basic Bakery Skills
Culinary Arts II
  • Students will rotate through a variety of stations in the Café both in the front and back of the house.
  • Practice skills required to become a professional chef.
  • Practice skills to become a front-of-the-house manager as well as food and beverage manager.
  • Menu Planning and Nutrition
  • Students are given the opportunity to complete OSHA 10 hour and allergy awareness certification.
Culinary Arts III
  • Students will rotate through a variety of stations in the Bakery and Pastry area both in the front and back of the house.
  • Expediting Baking and Pastry orders on large scale production as well as fine detailed multi-component deserts.
  • Yeast Dough and Breads, Quick Breads, Pies and Pastry, Cookies and Cakes
  • Complete Culinary Arts project.
