CLASS OF 2018 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

 

2018 Weymouth Rotary Foundation Scholarship Program

The Weymouth Rotary Foundation will be awarding scholarships totaling $24,000. These awards are available to all graduates, including Career & Technical Education students. The scholarships will be granted to high school seniors who most exemplify the Rotary International ideal of “Service above Self”. A student’s involvement in community service as a VOLUNTEER will weigh heavily in the final decision. Voluntary community service can be through church groups, scouts or other service organizations. Qualified applicants must be a Weymouth resident and be graduating from Weymouth High School or South Shore Christian Academy.

to be assigned a number. All returned applications must be logged in with the student’s signature with Mrs. Andrews

 

Weymouth High School Class of 2018 Scholarship

Applications are  available for all members of the class of 2018.  This one application includes many individual scholarships that will be awarded only to Weymouth High School 2018 graduates who complete the application.

All applications will be numbered and must be signed out by the individual student with Mrs. Andrews in the Maroon Guidance Office. Application deadline is March 16, 2018. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

 

2018 Town of Weymouth Scholarship Awards

Any Town of Weymouth  resident seeking education beyond high school at a college or institution deemed accredited by the Scholarship Committee is eligible to apply. For example, high school seniors, citizens currently enrolled in a college program or citizens planning to return to school for additional training. In the interest of fairness, the one exception is that those applicants who have already received two awards will not be considered. Since 1991, the committee is approaching $800,000 in renewable scholarships. Scholarship amounts range from $3000 to $500. Scholarship applicants are judged on community involvement, academic achievement, character and financial need.

  Bob’s Muffin Shop / Jonathan “JJ” Jankord Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is made possible by community members coming forward to create a coffee mug and glass with all proceeds benefiting Weymouth High School students. There will be multiple $500 scholarships awarded. An essay on a life changing event that you (or someone you know) have experienced is required.

Application Deadline is March 20. 2018

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
CPR Certification Course
WHS students may earn community service hours either by earning their certificate for CPR or assisting at the event. Expectations include assistance immediately after school setting up, check-in, healthy snack/water pick-up/set-up, break-down and other duties as identified at the event. WGB Concession Stand Volunteer
Volunteers are needed to help with the concession stand during Weymouth Girls Basketball recreation and travel games on Saturdays at the Abigail Adams Gym. Shift times are 8-10am10am-12pm12-3pm and 3:30-7:30pm. To sign up, please email sbmohr@gmail.com with community service in the subject field. More information available in the WHS library.

Weymouth Winter Farmer's Market
Volunteers are needed to assist with set up/clean up, breakdown, and also help facilitate Weymouth's Winter Farmer's Market on Saturdays (weather permitting) starting January 27, 2018 from 10am-1pm at the Chapman Middle School cafeteria. Weymouth Market
Volunteers are needed to assist with the Weymouth Market at the Chapman Middle School on Wednesday, February 7, 2017 from 3-6pm. Please sign up in the WHS Library.

Preparation for Walk for Hospice
Volunteers are needed to help organize and pack in preparation for the Walk for Hospice at the South Shore Health office (30 Reservoir Park Dr. Rockland) after school, Monday-Friday in March from 3-5pm. Please contact krota@southshorehealth.org to sign up and for more information.

Walk for Hospice
Walk for Hospice is looking for volunteers! Volunteers may earn community service hours by either helping to set up, clean up, and and/or assisting at the event or by registering a team and fundraising. Help with set up is on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 9pm-12am and on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 6am-10am

4th Annual Pingree School 5K
Volunteers are needed to assist with the Pingree School 5K on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Wompatuck State Park (204 Union St., Hingham) from 8:30am-10:30am. Volunteers will help with set up/clean up, directing runners on the course, and manning the water tables. Academy Ave International Night
Volunteers are needed to assist with Academy Avenue School's 4th Annual International Night on Friday, May 18, 2018.
