Welcome to the Robert D. West Library

at Weymouth High School

The following information is designed to introduce the WHS Library and its resources.

The WHS Library is officially open during the school day from 7:15am until 2:30pm. Homework Hotspot is an after school activity that is held in the library on a drop-in basis Monday through Thursday until 3:15 p.m. Students needing to use the library resources, finish work on a computer, get some help with school assignments or simply want a quiet place to work are welcome.

Students may sign up for Library study passes after school for the next day. Sign up sheets and passes are in the Library. A student in a study who has not had time to get a study pass and who needs to use the resources of the library may ask his/her study teacher to call the library to check on availability. There is no guarantee that room will be available.

The WHS Library offers students and staff a variety of educational resources both print and electronic.  There are networked computer workstations with Internet access for student use.  Students may use the book collection, reference sources (text and online), periodical collection, and the Internet. They may also borrow materials for research projects and recreational reading.  Through its membership in the Massachusetts Library System, the WHS Library provides access to a collection of Research Databases funded by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the Massachusetts Library System.  Students are encouraged to access these databases and the library catalog, both in school and at home, through a direct link from the WHS website (Library section).

Students who need help with a research assignment may ask the School Librarian or Library Assistant for instruction, direction, or clarification. Teachers may bring classes to the Library for projects and to use the resources. Segments of the collection are often put on reserve for the duration of a particular assignment.

Support the WHS Library:
The WHS Library appreciates your support. Monetary donations are used for collection development. We also maintain a wish list of resources if you would like to purchase a book or magazine subscription to donate. Books may be donated in honor of a special person or event and will be marked with an appropriate bookplate. Please contact us for more information.
