Instructional Leadership Team

The Weymouth High School Instructional Leadership Team is designed to advance the school’s mission and ensure student success by supporting high-quality teaching and learning in every classroom and area of the building. Consisting of the principal, associate principal, deans, and lead teachers from every department, including special education and guidance, the ILT meets every two weeks to set instructional goals, monitor progress toward those goals, and engage in a shared decision-making process with members of the administration related to pursuing and scaling the best practices for attaining those goals. This includes sharing knowledge on and advising the administration about the implementation of and adherence to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, the district and school’s mission, and school-wide initiatives such as a focus on core 21st century skills, community service, the capstone project, and reading and writing for purpose. To this end, the ILT makes recommendations about curriculum, resource management and prioritization, and the staff development necessary for maximal student achievement in every classroom.

By building and maintaining a team focused on “leadership directly related to teaching and learning” as well as the “individual and collective understandings [and] skills” (Marks and Printy, 2003) of teachers, Weymouth High School demonstrates a commitment to reflective practice, continual improvement, and a recognition that a school leadership model inclusive of expert practitioners is a key step for ensuring every student is provided with a personalized, dynamic, and challenging curriculum through which each student may achieve his or her goals and meet with post-high school success.
