Kimball Wins 400 Hurdle State Title

Junior J. Kimball won the Division One State Title in the 400 meter hurdles at the Division One meet with a time of 1 minute and 3 seconds, setting a new meet record.  The girls team placed 6th at the DI Championship meet. M. Barker was 2nd in the 2 mile, J. Tevenan was 6th in the mile, K. Pearce was 8th in the high jump, and the 4x800 team of B. Jaklitsch, M. Fitzgibbon, A. Brady, and J. Tevenan was 4th, while the 4x400 team of K. Kelly, M. Perriello, C. Perry, and J. Kimball was 5th.  The team will compete at the All-State meet in Fitchburg this Saturday.

 

Bailey-Smith and Mulcahy Win Track State Tiltes

Seniors T. Mulcahy and K. Bailey-Smith each won State titles on Saturday at the Massachusetts Division One Championships.  Bailey-Smith repeated as the State Champion in the High Jump with a leap of 6'11, added a state title in the Long Jump (22 Feet) and achored the 4x100 relay to a fourth place finish, along with R. Homere, D. Fong, and D. Fernandez.  Mulcahy won the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 54.78 seconds, finished fourth in the triple jump (44 Feet), and seventh in the Long Jump 20'11.

 

These mighty efforts led the team to a fourth place finish in the State and qulified each of them for the All-State Championships this Saturday in Fitchburg.

Softball to Host Tournament Game on Thursday at 3:30

The Lady Wildcats defeated Oliver Ames 5-3 to finish the regular season and will now prepare to host the Taunton Tigers on Thursday at 3:30 to begin the State Tournament.

Boy's Tennis Sweeps Quincy

The boys finished the regular season at 14 and 6 which is the best record in 20 years and the first time the team has made the State Tournament since 1995.  The State pairings will be announced on Wednesday as the team prepares for the post season.

Baseball 2 Braintree 1

The baseball team defeated BSC champion Braintree for the second time this season for their ninth win overall.  Senior S. Hall out dueled one of the top pitchers in Massachusetts earning the win on the mound for the Wildcats. The victory sets up a showdown at Hingham on Friday with a trip to the State Tournament on the line.

Boy's Tennis Qualifies for the State Tournament

The boys will return to the State Tennis Tournament for the first time since 1995 after defeating Milton on the road 3-2 for their tenth win of the season. The team will be rained out on Tuesday, but will travel to Braintree on Wednesday before hosting Quincy on Friday and Abington on Saturday at 2:00 PM.

The softball team earned their tenth win of the season at home vs Brookline.  The team will travel to Braintree on Wednesday for a key BSC matchup.

Girl's Tennis 4 Milton 1

The Lady Wildcats earned their 5th win of the season at home over the visiting Wildcats. The team will be rained out on Tuesday but will finish a very busy week - hosting Braintree Wednesday, before traveling to Needham on Thursday, Quincy on Friday, and Abington on Saturday at 9:00 AM.

Boy's Tennis Sweeps Dedham 5-0

The boys took all five matches against Dedham on Friday.  The team will look to keep things rolling when they travel to Milton on Monday for a double header followed by two more matches with Abington at home on Tuesday.

Baseball 12 Needham 11

The boys earned a win in extra innings on Thursday to improve to 8 and 9.  The team needs to win two of their last three regular season games this week to qualify for the State Tournament.  Weymouth will travel to Parson's Field on Monday to take on Brookline.

Girl's Lacrosse 11 Milton 9

The Lady Wildcats earned a hard-fought victory over the visiting Wildcats of Milton on Friday.  The team will host Braintree on Monday in the regular season finale.

Softball 9 Needham 2

The softball team qualified for the State Tournament for the second year in a row with a victory under the lights in Needham.  The team will host Brookline on Monday looking to earn win number ten on the season.

 

 

Boy's Lacrosse 8 Milton 3

The lacrosse team defeated Milton on the road to earn their sixth victory of the season.  The team will travel to Braintree on Monday before finishing the regular season at home vs. Hingham on Thursday.

The Lady Wildcats improved to 8 and 7 with a win over Milton.  The team is now one win from a return to the State Tournament and will play a night game at Needham on Wednesday at 6:30.

The baseball team earned an important BSC victory on the road over Milton.  As the regular season winds down the boys will be looking to make a run at the State Tournament.  The team will host Needham on Wednesday.

Boy's Track Wins BSC Title

The final track meet of the year came down to the Bay State Conference's best track teams - Weymouth vs. Newton North.  Both teams entered the meet undefeated at 6 and 0 and in the end both remained undefeated after a 68-68 tie.  The teams will split the BSC title after an exciting meet at Newton.  Sophomore D. Harrison finished the anchor leg of the final relay in dramatic fashion, winning that event and knotting the score at 68.

 

Both teams will host the Bay State Conference All-Star Meet this Wednesday at 5:00 on the track.  This is truly a showcase of some of the greatest athleticism in the State. 

Boy's and Girl's Track Defeat Needham

Both Track teams remained undefeated at 6 and 0 with victories over Needham.  The ladies defeated the host Rockets 90.5-40.5, while the boys won by a score of 81-55.  The victories set up a BSC championship showdown with the undefeated Newton North Tigers with the BSC titles on the line.

 

At the State Freshmen/Sophomore Meet the following Wildcats turned in some impressive performances:

The boys earned their fifth victory of the season at home over the Warriors.  The team will host Needham on Wednesday.

In a pitching matchup featuring the Bay State Conferences best - Weymouth senior S. McKay pitched a fantastic game to lead the Wildcats to their sixth win of the season. The team will host Newton North on Wednesday.

Girl's Tennis Defeats Milton

The Girls Tennis team earned a hard-fought victory against Milton High last Friday afternoon in thrilling fashion.

Singles victories by Senior R. Smith and Junior M. Norton  left the match tied at two and dramatically set the stage for the first doubles team of A. Hutchinson and J. Rieman.  The duo responded securing a 6-3, 6-3 match-clinching upset.
 
The Wildcats are currently 3-6, but look to improve their record in the upcoming weeks as the squad has made great strides since the opening of the season.
